Bean Bag Chair from Balloon for Kelly Dolls (Barbie DIY)

I picked up another pack of assorted balloons at Dollar Tree and it happened to include some pretty big balloons. I immediately saw a bean bag chair for the Barbie kid size dolls, Kelly and Tommy. My choice of color options was... limited... So I decided to make a green chair, figuring it was kind of a neutral color and it would work in both livingroom and bedroom dioramas. This turned out to be a quick project and cute little chair.
The flocked puppy (Ruff) is from a 90% off after Easter clearance Barbie egg at Walmart.
  1. Blow up balloon a couple times to soften and stretch it. My balloon was 3 1/4" wide.
  2. There are many options for stuffing. I've seen little foam balls at Dollar Tree, you could use beads, small dry beans, rice, or I chose lentils. Generally, I'm not a big fan of using real food in craft projects, but I made sure I tied the balloon opening tightly closed.
  3. Stretch opening and fill balloon with stuffing of choice. I cut the rolled end off so it would stretch easier and stretched it over a 1" piece of pvc pipe like a funnel.
  4. Press out the air and tie balloon closed securely.
  5. Push and stretch chair to shape, and position the neck of the balloon on the bottom.
  6. My best tip: Use way less stuffing than you think you need. After I took the pic below, I re-opened the balloon ~twice~ to remove more lentils.
