Today's project is just silly and simply intended to make a child smile:@) I've been looking at the little Mattel Barbie babies that come in rubber animal outfits for a couple years now. There's a rabbit, dog and lamb. With Easter approaching, I thought it might be fun to see if we could make our own bunny outfit from balloons. Not intended to be a long term garment, just a little something to make for giggles. I used some balloons I already had in my stash, would have chosen pastel colors if I was buying balloons for the project.
My inspiration:
✂What I did:
Outfit:
Using round balloon that's about 2" across at the widest point-
- Cut 1/2" small slit right below the neck of the balloon, estimate where the face would be.
- Cut two very small slits a little below the face and off to the sides a tad, so you can push the arms through.
- Dress baby in balloon, push the body through the face hole. Adjust the hole so it surrounds the face.
- Push both arms through the holes.
- Place baby in sitting position. You will see the feet poking the balloon. Make small slits and push feet through holes.
- Adjust the outfit so it fits.
- Cut the neck of the balloon vertically. Tie into a knot. Trim the rolled part off at an angle creating ears.
- Optional: Add a dab of hot glue to help both ears stick up.
Bunny Ears Hat
Using two balloons that are about 1/2" wide and 4" long-
- Tie into knot leaving about 1/2" to the rolled ends.
- Choose the rolled part that will help the ears look like they are facing front, stretch ~wide~ and place on head like a hat.
- Cut the unused end off.
- Optional: Color center of each ear with Sharpie.
✂Make something just for fun and have a happy day🐰
