The potholders I started with:
(And I did save the silver colored quilted back, just in case I think of something for that๐
What I did:
- Cut the front design off of the potholder.
- Folded it in half lengthwise with the saying in the center.
- Using the doll as a guide, cut bib shape, then flare sides out to go around the hips.
- Hot glue loop on top, make it big enough to slip over doll's head.
- Add ties, they can be long enough to actually tie behind the doll's back, or short and hot glue a little velcro to each end.
- Finally, border the whole apron with ribbon.
The finished apron:
A word about glue...
The ~fastest~ way to make these little aprons is with hot glue, no question.
The ~neatest~ way to make them, would be with Liquid Stitch. This would also give you more of a chance to bend the ribbon to follow the curves as necessary.

OMG...he looks so handsome in this....loving the idea, though I didn't see any of these the other day, I'll have to try a different store! Thanks, Sandi
ReplyDeleteAnother clever idea! That pot holder couldn't be more perfect as a Ken doll apron. When I'm finished my granddaughter's dollhouse I'm going to have to spend some good quality time here for Barbie clothing ideas.
ReplyDeleteCute!
