Fancy Headband Dress for Barbie with Off-Shoulder Ruffle or Sewing Trim

What really makes this headband dress fancy is using a pretty ruffle or neat sewing trim embellishment. This is another idea that comes together in no time and would be a fun birthday party or sleepover craft. The key is using a headband material that's stretchy. Do you know someone that sews? There's a chance she/he has a stash of sewing trims, you only need about 6" for a Barbie dress. Any pretty light weight lacy or shear ruffle, or fringe, would be fine. Actually, as I was looking for a ruffle I came upon this crazy faux fur trim from Ma's stash... I love the way that looks too! Anything fancy:@)

This one is too easy folks:
  1. Cut the seam off of 2" wide headband, then cut the headband in half. Even up the ends. This gives us two dresses. These headbands usually come in a pack of two at Dollar Tree, so four dresses per project.
  2. With a needle and thread, sew the trim to the center front of the dress. I only used a few stitches but took them about 1" across the top. Tie off and cut thread.
  3. Loosely wrap trim around the doll's arms to the back. You want to be able to move the arms and pose the doll as desired.
  4. Cut trim to length. Sew ruffle to either side of back of dress. ~But, don't overlap. We need the center of the back to be open so the dress still slips up over the doll's hips.
  5. Dress doll -done๐Ÿ˜Ž
  6. One note: With dressing and undressing the bottom will begin to roll up as most knits do. If you don't want that to happen you can hem the bottom.
I purposely used two different size dolls for the pics, an older more shapely Barbie and a more Skipper size doll. Both do have those God awful rubber legs... Not the easiest to dress, but I don't think anything goes on these dolls too easily. The dress slipped right on my hard plastic doll.
