Felt and Bead Taco for Barbie -Doll House Food

Continuing with my Cinco de Mayo theme this week... I couldn't find the little Mexican food play set that Mattel marketed a year or so ago. Well, more accurately, I will ~not~ be paying the $15 I see on-line for that $3 play set... So I decided to make my own Taco for Barbie from felt, yarn and beads, I think it turned out cute, and Barbie says muy bueno!

Start with a circle of tan felt, maybe the size of a quarter. Fold it in half.
Add some glue to the inside, my ground meat is small brown wooden beads.
As I added more layers and items, I added more glue...
My lettuce is a green yarn (which I trimmed after the close up below), tomatoes are red beads in assorted sizes.
Black olives are round beads, and the shredded cheese is gold bugle beads.

What I call the Taco Tuesday set from Mattel:
Barbie asks that I work on the margarita next😉

This will be my fifth and last post in this series, it has been fun.
I hope you'll stop back on Tuesday, May 5th to see how Barbie and Ken celebrate the holiday!

Make something just for fun and have a happy day😎

  1. Hahahaha. I just discovered you. I was a Barbie designer 1989-1993. Barbie was maybe the reason I became a fashion designer (for a while. Until it was no longer fun).
I will return for a deeper dive!
