Painting A $1 Thrift Store Barbie Chair

I found a cute Barbie size chair at the thrift store for $1. I really don't know if it's from a Barbie play set or another doll's but I liked it... Except maybe the color. I decided painting it black would be better for my pictures and I think it turned out great! First, I washed it with dish soap and hot water, then I wiped it down really well with alcohol and allowed it to thoroughly dry. The legs actually came off easily, saving me having to wrap them with masking tape, that was a nice surprise. My spray paint was a cheap 97¢ can from Walmart I had in the shed, but it did a great job. Lots of short quick squirts with drying time between coats. It kinda reminds me of a luxurious leather chair now:)

I wanted to show the lacy design of the chair.
This pic was taken outside, so the sun made the chair look gray, but it's black.

The original color:
Even Barbie seems a little ~uncomfortable~ with it๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Great idea I always clean my plastic with alcohol...just to make sure to get a good bond and remove any oily dirt.

  2. Thanks for the tip about wiping down the chair with alcohol, Lynn. It looks much better in black. Like leather.
