Barbie Doll Fabric Throw Pillows-Two More DIY Ideas

I've mentioned before that I've been blogging for a l-o-n-g time, and one thing I know for sure is, Bloggy Buddies can be the best! Sylvia from Hankie Chic sent me some fun Barbie fabric so I could make a pillow to match the avatar on my blog-ack, how cool is that!!! But to add to the fun, there were a few more designs and color combinations to play with too.
For the black haired Barbie I started with 2 1/2" wide white satin ribbon that had gold glitter and garland wired edges. I cut my ribbon long enough to fold in half and fold the raw edges up about 1/4". Then I hand sewed up each side. I cut the Barbie outline out of the fabric and glued her on using Elmer's Craft Bond Spray Adhesive. Stuffed it with some batting and sewed the bottom edge. Glitzy and fun, what diva wouldn't love this😎

For the profile, after debating about how to make a round pillow for a couple days... I had a piece of 3/8" wide foam from something(?) and decided to cut the circle out of the fabric and attach it with spray adhesive. Then I trimmed the foam to size and added another piece of fabric to the back of the pillow. The finishing touch, adding some fun braided cording around the edge.

Sylvia has a unique ETSY shop where she makes one of a kind Barbie clothes from vintage hankies. She scours thrift stores and the 'net to find pretty prints that are 1:6 scale. She also offers patterns and accessory items that have been carefully made over. Oh and, believe it or not, there actually is a Barbie Convention every (non-Covid) year and she goes!!! I follow her blog here so I know when something new is posted.

Don't hesitate to reach out to her if you have a special memorial, or family heirloom hankie you'd like turned into an original keepsake dress.

What will I do with the left over Barbie prints?
Well, I hope you'll stop back to see😉

Thank you Sylvia,
Barbie says she loves her new pillows
